Riddle me this, Y!A, because I'm quite dumbfounded. What's the general consensus on marijuana?

Most people believe that sending someone to jail for smoking is completely ridiculous. However to say that something is illegal then legal the next day is bad for your reputation. Just about every president knows that it should be legal however, who would come out and say " We were wrong, all those people in jail....my bad." Thats why medical is so important. Medical Marijuana is a completely different issue. Thats why politicians can come out and support it. Voting No for marijuana legalization was because prop 19 was bullshit. People would have been allowed to be high at work. Now Ive done my homework countless times high, but I don't want my taxi driver or doctor to be high. There has to be some type of limit. A better bill would have helped. You cant go from fully illegal to wild west.
