Possible dating/romance scam e-mails?

I have a question about dating/romance scam e-mails. I've been getting boatloads of e-mails that are of an adult, male-oriented type (meaning that they are intended for men, not women). These e-mails are from women asking me to date them (some even claim that we've chatted when we haven't), or view their nude photos, or are invites to male-oriented adult websites. The thing is, I'm a WOMAN, not a man, and it clearly states so in my Yahoo profile. So, are these e-mails dating/romance scams? Or is it possible that someones been handing out my e-mail address fraudulently? If someone has been handing out my e-mail address, is there a way I can find out? I'm curious, because these e-mails are really weirding me out.
