Are there plain clothed met force officers walking around public places in London ?

Plain clothed police would be on an operation not just walking about incase something happens, that's what the beat bobbies are for. If off duty they will leave you alone unless your commiting a crime then they would get back up as they don't carry handcuffs etc while off duty.
